Frequently asked questions
How does pre-purchasing work?
Visit our online store starting October 1st each year.
The online store is open for business starting October 1st, and will close (except for B&B tree purchases) after the second week of November as we open the farm in person.
Choose your tree type, variety, and height.
If you are choosing a Choose & Cut or a Ball & Burlap tree there will be 2 photos available. One of the front or “good side”, and one of the back or “bad side. (not that the trees have bad sides, of course)
Pre-Cut trees will not have any photos available, because these trees are freshly cut and shipped to us right before we open the Saturday before thanksgiving. We pick these trees out for you, based on the order that the orders came in. (If you were the first order, we pick your tree first to make sure it’s as close to how you want it as possible and that it’s the prettiest in that height range. If you are the second person to order, then we choose your tree next using your desired height range and any additional order notes, according to what we have available, we follow this pattern for each and every order)
Add your chosen tree to the cart & select a pickup date.
At this point you can also add any other items like wreaths or tree preservative
Check out & add notes to your order.
If you are purchasing a pre-cut tree you can add notes about how you would like it to look, and we will do our best to deliver. Notes like “tall & skinny, full & fat”, etc.
Picking up your tree at the farm.
Once your order confirmation goes through, we tag your tree with your name to reserve it for you.
If your purchase is for a pre-cut tree then we tag it and move it into a designated area near the registration desk. Ask for help locating your tree when you arrive, and, if the tree is not to your liking and we have others available when you arrive to pick it up, then you are welcome to make your own selection instead. Pre-purchasing just makes sure that there is a tree here for you, no matter how late in the season you may arrive.
If your purchase is for a Ball & Burlap tree, it will be dug and near the parking area when you arrive. You can ask for help to locate & load it when you are ready.
If your purchase is for a choose & cut tree, it will be down in the field waiting for you when you get here! Register upon arrival and our team will direct you to your tree. Then you can cut it down yourself or ask for help.
Other Purchasing Notes.
If you are a military or law enforcement officer, we want to say thank you and show our support with a discount on your tree.
Please wait to make your purchase, and first send an email to dawn@wildwoodchristmastreefarm.com with a photo of your ID and let her know what type tree (Choose-n-cut, Ball & Burlap, or Pre-cut) you would like to purchase. You will receive a discount code in return. (ID verified discount will only work for yourself, spouse, or child)
*This code only applies to the purchase of a Christmas tree, and must unfortunately be limited to 1 per family.
*Due to accounting issues, we are not able to offer a refund if you have already placed your order without a discount code. Please be sure to get your discount code before you check out!
How do I transport a B&B?
B&B Trees must be transported in a pickup truck or on a trailer, for our sake and yours. We have loaded them on or in large SUVs in the past, but our customers find the tree nearly impossible to unload once getting it home, due to its drastic weight.
We are here to help you load it when you arrive, but we recommend you have help available at home to help unload and set up your B&B.
How do I set up a B&B in my home?
Since B&Bs have a large root ball, they won't fit in a standard tree stand. We recommend a 10 gallon washtub.
1. Stand your B&B in the washtub, wherever you want the tree to be in your home. (Away from direct heat sources)
2. Layer play sand or gravel around the base of the root ball until it stands upright and steady on it's own.
3. cover the washtub with your tree skirt or a spare blanket.
Download the care sheet if you need it!
Why are your trees better for my family?
We consider our trees to be better in a way that's healthier. We grow our trees naturally, without using pesticides, insecticides, herbicides, or colorants. This means that our trees are all-natural, and as close to organic as you can get without the certification.
Are there options for allergy sufferers?
Yes, we have options for you! We recommend a B&B White Pine if you have allergy issues.
Another way to cut down on allergy triggers is to rinse the tree well with a garden hose and let it dry before taking it into your house. A lot of the time it’s the pollen or mold that has collected in the tree over the years it has been growing that can create a trigger for allergy sufferers. In addition to that, the ride home can add lots of dust and other debris to your tree.
Will a live tree have bugs?
Unfortunately, there are no guarantees with a live Christmas tree. It’s been living out in the open where animals and pests tend to make their homes. We shake your tree to remove any unwanted pests, however…sometimes it’s not enough. A good hosing down of your tree once you get it home and letting it dry before taking it into the house may help rid it of any unwanted pests.
